In 2013, thousands of students and disciples of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche traveled from around the world to Cascais, Portugal which was the site of the International Kadampa Fall Festival. During the Festival, Venerable Geshe-la gave profound teachings that have since been cherished dearly by sincere Kadampa practitioners.

Since 1977, when he accepted an invitation to become Resident Teacher at Manjushri Centre in the UK, he has given thousands of teachings, composed twenty-three widely acclaimed books on Buddhism and meditation, established over 1,300 meditation centers, trained hundreds of qualified Teachers and developed practical study and meditation programs to suit the needs of the modern world.

Venerable Geshe-la's last public Teaching was held in Portugal during the 2013 International Fall Festival. During the event, he gave four teachings which included a special blessing transmission of four profound teachings that will greatly influence the curriculum here at KMC LA during the year.

During the 2013 International Kadampa Fall Festival in Portugal, Gen Kelsang Rigpa, our kind Resident Teacher, was asked to guide the Festival review sessions. In essence, Gen Rigpa was asked to give the essential points from the Teachings given by Venerable Geshe-la.

This year at KMC LA, Gen Rigpa has offered three events that have re-transmitted the powerful blessings and teachings given to us by Venerable Geshe-la during the Festival.

About Our Community

Attending class, chatting in the courtyard or even trying a volunteer role are great ways to experience the benefits of a service oriented community.

Community is important to us. The way of being at the Center exemplifies how Kadampa Buddhist practices and modern life go hand in hand. We integrate the teachings we receive into the activities and dialogue that make up our Center life. It feels simple, harmonious and easy to enjoy your inner and outer environment.

Our Founder and Spiritual Teacher Geshe Kelsang Gyatso often says, "everyone welcome!" Yes, everyone is welcome to join the Center, its classes, events and practices regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender and so on. We know that everyone benefits from Buddha's teachings and we're delighted to have our doors open to help make that happen.

Did you know that all our classes and events are run by a volunteer team?
