Practical Mindfulness: Buddhist Psychology for a Meaningful Life

February 21 Practical Mindfulness: Our Limitless Potential
February 28 Let Go of Distractions: Time Flies, Remember Death
March 7 Whatever You Are Doing, Remember Dharma
March 14 Keep Karma in Mind All the Time
March 21 Love and the Purpose of Your Life
March 28 Life Is But a Dream
April 4 Mindfulness and Imagination

What exactly is mindfulness?

Is it simply being in the moment? Being more aware? What does that mean in terms of my moment to moment thoughts, actions, and attitudes? What is the relationship between mindfulness as a spiritual practice, and mindfulness in my busy, modern life?

In this six-week course, you will learn the foundations of training in mindfulness, both during meditation sessions and in daily life. Each class will explain two aspects of spiritual practice:

1. Buddhist psychology and philosophy
2. Mindfulness tools for daily practical training

Mindfulness will be presented within the original Buddhist context of compassion and spiritual development, instructions that are easily accessible and vital for modern people, as now more than ever Buddha’s profound teachings are relevant and can help modern people live a life of meaning, purpose and fulfillment. In each class you will learn a different teaching given by Buddha to help you live life to the fullest; and, you will learn mindfulness methods and techniques that will help you to gain the deepest experience of these powerful teachings.

In this course you will learn how to:

· Overcome distractions
· Be more fully present
· Guard your mind
· Maintain positive thoughts
· Integrate mindfulness with daily activities
· Live a happy and purposeful life

Everyone is welcome to attend this series of classes. No previous experience necessary. Don’t miss this special opportunity to train in mindfulness with Buddhist monk Gen Kelsang Rigpa.

April 18 Peace, Compassion & Human Potential

Buddhism offers uplifting spiritual solutions that are practical and transformative. Inside each of us exists a limitless potential for love, healing, and peace. We invite you to gain confidence in this potential and develop it through the practice of meditation. By doing this we can find the power to free ourselves from suffering and gain the ability to help those around us in the best possible way.
