May 28-June 2 International Spring Festival

For the past five years, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche has emphasized the importance of memorizing our daily prayers as a method to overcome distraction and develop a heart-felt experience of their meaning. We are encouraged to “recite mentally from the heart while concentrating on the meaning” of our daily prayers.

In The Hundreds of Deities of the Joyful Land According to Highest Yoga Tantra, Venerable Geshe-la writes:

“For many people reciting prayers out loud makes it difficult to concentrate on the meaning, because the sound interferes with their concentration. Therefore we need to become familiar with reciting prayers mentally from our heart without sound, which means that we need to memorize our daily prayers.”

In light of this advice, KMC LA will once again offer a “Memorization & Practice Class” where we will emphasize memorizing and meditating on the prayers in the sadhana The Hundreds of Deities of the Joyful Land According to Highest Yoga Tantra.

Students will be encouraged to try to memorize a certain number of verses each week, culminating with the incredibly powerful and blessed prayer, “Request to the Lord of All Lineages” that will be the subject of the International Kadampa Spring Festival taught by Gen-la Khyenrab. We can see this course as an offering to our Spiritual Guide, and as the perfect way to prepare for, and deepen our experience of the teachings given at the Spring Festival in May.

This class is designed for those with HYT empowerments, or the intention to receive HYT empowerments as soon as possible.
