PASADENA Series: Let Go of Bad Habits
Wednesdays, Jan 3 thru Jan 31, 2024      7 – 8 pm

Part of a 5-week series with Buddhist teacher Terry Schneider

at Ahiah Center For Spiritual Living Pasadena
150 N El Molino Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101

1/24 Topic: “Overcome Discouragement and Procrastination”

  • Feeling trapped by unhealthy habits?
  • Want to make some positive changes in the new year?
  • Looking for ideas that will give you more purpose and direction?

It is easy to feel stuck, and our habits can be deeply ingrained. However, we definitely can make changes to how we think, speak, and act to become the person we wish to be. We need two things to change:

1- A clear, positive vision of our potential and
2- Methods to actualize this potential

Within Buddhist psychology, we find teachings that will give us the confidence to change, and meditation and mind-training techniques that give us the practical tools to bring this change to fruition. In this 5-week course, you will learn life-changing methods that have been practiced effectively for centuries; learn how to let go of bad habits, and change yourself into someone happier, more confident, and more beneficial to others.

Remaining topics in this series:
January 24 Overcome Discouragement and Procrastination
January 31  Insecurity vs Confidence

No meditation experience is necessary; everyone is welcome!

About Classes at Kadampa Meditation Center LA & our Branch classes

General Program (GP) classes are suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Although classes are given in a series around one specific theme, they are drop-in in nature and can be taken individually, as each class topic is self-contained.

The classes are designed to help those looking for Buddhist wisdom to help with stress relief and relaxation, as well as those interested in exploring the nature of the mind, and pursuing the Buddhist path. Classes explore the basic framework of Buddhist teachings and meditation and explain how to use Buddha’s advice in our daily lives to solve our problems. All General Program classes are based on commentaries by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

A typical class consists of a guided relaxation meditation, a teaching based on the meditation topic, and final contemplative meditation. Branch classes last approximately 1 hour. Chairs and cushions are provided. No special clothing is required, and there is no physical exercise, yoga, or stretching involved.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of belief; you do not need to be Buddhist to attend.
