Retreat Topic: If we draw close to Buddha, we have a supreme and unchanging friend in our corner at all times. One of the central practices of Kadampa Meditation Centers is the recitation and contemplation of The Liberating Prayer. This beautiful praise to Buddha Shakyamuni, composed by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso directly for us, is a profound exploration of the nature of enlightenment that allows us to open up to and connect with the blessings of the Buddhas, thereby greatly inspiring us on our own path to enlightenment.

Gen Choma and Gen Rigpa will guide meditations and share insights based on Geshe Kelsang’s commentaries that will allow us to go deeper in our own contemplations on this beautiful, poetic, inspiring prayer.

Retreat Location: IKRC Grand Canyon near Williams, AZ, is the site of the Kadampa Buddhist Temple (see more at IKRC)  The beauty and serenity of the natural environment provides an ideal setting for reflection and meditation. You may book on-site accommodations in IKRC lodge rooms or dorm rooms or campsites (includes 8 vegetarian meals), or arrange off-site accommodations of your choosing in the charming nearby towns.

Gen Kelsang Rigpa is the Western US National Spiritual Director of the NKT-IKBU and the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center LA.

Gen Kelsang Choma has studied extensively on the Teacher Training Program of the New Kadampa Tradition for over 30 years and is  the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center San Francisco.
